Alto Douro Wine Region
The Alto Douro wine region is a representative area of the landscape that characterizes the Douro Demarcated Region, the oldest wine-growing region in the world.
This region is represented by terraced slopes that produce some of the best wines in the world, one of the biggest flags of Portugal. Wineries and river views dominate the scene and sweeping landscapes capture anyone's heart.
Although the Douro wine region has exemplary wine tourism, there are several historic villages waiting to be discovered, superb pedestrian trails and a rich gastronomy.
“The Douro wine region is the master of a unique landscape” – Miguel Torga
